(S18E07) Phew! March Madness is over and we had a fresh episode of Survivor on its regularly scheduled night! Although the episode title mentions Coach, I didn’t want to use him in the image above. I’ve decided he’s not Little Lord Fauntleroy — he’s Willie Nelson’s odd spawn. You know … the one they don’t mention in public.

Joe (above) played a rather pivotal role in tonight’s episode. he showed he’s thinking ahead and he could have just flipped the whole game. Or maybe he just tried to flip the game not realizing he was flipping at all. Have I confused you yet? Read on!

Just because I feel an obligation to mention him in passing as he’s in the title — Coach spoiled the rice and then acted like a jerk about it. I really don’t like the man. He creeps me out and I keep thinking about how he lied to his job about going on the show and got fired.

Then there’s Joe
Jalapao is down in numbers. Taj and Stephen have their secret cross-tribe alliance thing going on with Sierra and Brendan from Timbira. When Timbira won the Reward Challenge, Joe was the one to go from Jalapao. He chose to take Erinn from Timbira with him. His decision seemed two-fold. He thought she’s a cute girl and he likes to flirt. Plus, much like Taj before him, he was interested in getting a cross-tribe alliance going.

Joe managed to get Erinn to spill the beans on the hidden idol clue she drew from the urn. He immediately figured out it was near the tree mail location. So, he thinks he’s sitting pretty. He has a new thing going with Erinn from the other tribe and he has his strong allies (Stephen, JT, and Sydney) in his own tribe. Throw in a found hidden immunity idol and the man has no worries. Or does he?

Meanwhile back at camp
Taj is a more trusting woman than I would be in her position. Telling JT about the idol she found? Yikes! Don’t any of these folks remember Survivor
is a backstabbing and deceitful kind of game? I already think she was too trusting by letting Stephen hold onto it. No one owes her in the game. She could be blindsided just like anyone else.

Stephen was leery about telling JT of the idol. But JT himself solved any issues by finding it when he went for the fishing gear. Let’s keep in mind that Stephen is someone with whom you might want to play poker. His face reveals it all. But JT didn’t notice. Taj ended up telling him about the idol but not the secret alliance and a new alliance is born — Stephen, JT, and Taj. All is hunky-dory. Or is it?

Nope! With Timbira winning immunity tonight, Joe and JT had originally wanted to vote off Taj. Joe wants to keep Sydney around because she’s cute and he’s a flirt. Oh, and he trusts her. What Joe doesn’t know, beside the new alliance which doesn’t include him, is that Taj made a fake hidden idol for him to find and it’s totally worthless.

Oh, it’s a nailbiter!
While the challenges tonight were nothing all that new (cute little pig throw, I’ll say), it was leading up to Tribal Council and the voting itself which were the most exciting parts of the show. JT was between it all with Joe expecting him to vote out Taj. Stephen was just a lost soul looking scared throughout it all. Stephen and JT talked out ousting Taj and keeping her hidden idol. But, in the end, Stephen and JT voted with Taj to get rid of Sydney. Joe has lost his eye-candy and now probably wonders about his place in the tribe.
